In addition to being a business and financial advisor, until 2001 Lydia was the CEO of Albena Invest Holding, where she was engaged in restructuring and management of over 20 subsidiaries from different sectors of the economy.
From 2001 to 2009 she is Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Labour and Social Policy, Minister of Economy, Member of the European and Bulgarian parliaments.
She has worked as an advisor to the Ukrainian government on issues related to association with the EU. Since 2009, she has been a member of the Governing Council of the University of the United Nations, including 16 research institutes from around the world.
Currently, she is president of the Specialized Committee on Economic Development at the German-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
